Synergy

"Great individuals do not equal great teams."
- Tom Peters

Purpose

Providing participants with an understanding of the underlying principles of synergy so that they can assess their own effectiveness and strategically focus on those issues that impede on the efficiency of the team.

The PDD way

Our approach is unconventional and quite different from traditional team building sessions simply because we believe that the traditional team building process is imperfect.

“Synergy” uses analogies with nature and the lessons that work teams can learn from animals that live in packs, herds and prides.

PDD developed a questionnaire that measures a team’s current level of functioning according to the 6 principles of synergy which are modeled by animals in nature:

Territorial harmony (Zebra)
Gives Confidence and a home-ground advantage

Dedication of individual strengths (Cheetah)
Provides clear Roles and Leadership

Rituals to strengthen the pack (Lions)
Secure Group cohesion and Team Spirit

Trusting relationships (Hyenas)
Strenghtens Loyalty and Support

Sense of purpose (Cape hunting dog)
Guarentees Focus and Energy

Team maintenance issues (Elephants)
Provides continious learning and a culture of improvement

Outcomes

  • To ensure a more cohesive, mutually supportive and trusting group that will achieve synergy in task accomplishment, and at the same time, respect individual differences in values, cultures and skills.
  • A team that will foster a sense of interdependence among group members to search for more effective ways of working through problems inherent to the team.
  • Our approach nurtures the development and growth of individuals within teams.
  • Action plans of issues that need to be addressed from each of the principles.

Who should attend?

Management teams, inter and intra-departmental groups, sections, project teams and management-union delegations.
